Music Ministry at Peace
Music proclaims the Good News of Jesus Christ as it inspires and encourages us, as it soothes the heart, and as it lifts praises to our God. The music ministry at Peace offers a wide range of musical ensembles for all ages. Scroll this page to find an opportunity to share your gifts and talents on one of the music ministry teams at Peace.
Praise team members lead the music for our 9:15 am worship service in the Peace Center. The ensemble typically includes two vocalists, guitar, keyboard, base and drums. Schedules are flexible and singers rotate Sundays.
Children and Youth sing for our 9:15 am Outdoor worship in the Summer and for Wednesday 5:15 pm worship Advent and Lent. Confirmation students lead the music for Wednesday worship at 6:15 pm. We also have mother & daughter teams who sing together, as well as one family of singers with three generations of musicians. Schedules are flexible.
Summer Concert Series
Peace has hosted over 30 years of Summer Concerts on Wednesdays at Noon (12:00). Concerts begin on the last week in June and run through the first week in August. After the concert, audience members are encouraged to stay and enjoy the wonderful Salad Luncheon prepared by Parish Services.
Ringing in a handbell choir is challenging and fun. If you can count, you can be part of this unique choir. We rehearse from 6:30 to 7:30 pm on Wednesday evenings and play once or twice a month in worship, depending on everyone’s schedules.
Brass ensemble includes youth and adults. Students who are advanced enough for middle school or high school band are welcome to join us. We typically play for Easter, Christmas Eve, and Christ the King Sunday.
Peace Singers sing for special worship services. We encourage “all ages” to join us for special occasions such as our church’s 125th Anniversary. We typically rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. You do not have to be able to read music to sing with us. Join us and help us make a joyful noise!
Walker Pipe Organ
In 1997, J.W. Walker & Sons pipe organ builders from England installed a custom built pipe organ into the Sanctuary of Peace Lutheran Church. The organ has 3 manuals and pedal, 35 stops for 41 ranks of pipes (2,235 individual pipes) controlled by stop knobs, 32 levels of electronic combination action with 43 pistons and reversible, mechanical key action, and electric stop and combination action. The beautiful North American Oak case fits in nicely with the woodwork in the Sanctuary. The theme of Peace is seen in both the pipe shades as well as a dove gently landing atop the case.
